• At least 4 years of experience
• Thorough working knowledge of Ethernet and all communications protocols used in a WAN environment.
• Good knowledge of all OSI 7 layers.
• Full knowledge of advanced routing concepts including OSPF, BGB, high availability using HSRP, VRRP
• Thorough understanding of IPv4 (TCP & UDP) and at least a basic understanding of IPv6.
• Ability to analyse and assess computer/network architecture requirements and determine, plan and implement optimal and cost-effective solutions.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose network problems using any and all available tools including network sniffers, port scanners, UNIX system networking tools etc.
• Full comprehension of Load Balancing methods and schemes including ‘sticky’, direct server return, port groups and session tracking.
• Generate traffic flow analysis and utilisation reports using standard tools such as mrtg/rrdtool and sflow.
• Knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards.
• Knowledge of computer/network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
• An understanding of project methodologies and project life cycles.
• Good written and oral English skills.
• Good administrative and organisational skills.
• The ability to work in a team environment and to cope with high pressure situations.
• Where an individual may not meet all of the criteria but is still felt to be an appropriate candidate, employment may be offered at the discretion of the management. Appropriate training will be provided where necessary.
